RUN — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
RUN ("the game", "we", "us") is a free, location-based game. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it. The game is for people 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Draft policy — to be reviewed by counsel before public launch. A dedicated privacy contact address is being set up.
What we collect
- Runner name — the handle you choose.
- Location — your device's GPS location while you are playing, used to show coins near you, place you on the map, and enable nearby-player features. When other players see you, your position is coarsened (snapped to roughly a 20-meter grid).
- Camera (optional) — only when you choose to use AR Catch, so the game can show coins and creatures overlaid on your surroundings. The camera feed is processed live on your device and is never recorded, stored, photographed, or sent to us. It stops the moment you leave the AR view.
- Gameplay data — points, coins collected, creatures tamed, streaks, missions, and races.
- Notifications (optional) — if you turn on alerts, a push subscription so we can notify you about nearby events. You can turn this off anytime.
- Basic technical data — standard request/log data your browser sends.
How we use it
- To run the game — show nearby coins and players, keep leaderboards, and award in-game points.
- To operate and secure the service and prevent cheating.
In-game RUN is points only. It has no cash value and cannot be redeemed, exchanged, or cashed out.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not track your location when you are not playing.
- We never record, store, or upload your camera feed or take photos — AR runs live on your device only.
- We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to play.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers that host and run the game (for example, our hosting and database providers), and only as needed to operate it. We may disclose information if required by law.
Your choices & rights
- You can turn off location permission in your browser or device settings at any time (the game needs it to function).
- Depending on where you live (including California / CCPA), you may have the right to access or delete your data. Contact us to make a request.
Data retention & security
We keep gameplay data while your account is active and take reasonable measures to protect it. No online service is perfectly secure.
